Positive Actions for Learning (PAL)

At Loxton Primary School, we are proud to introduce one of our key priorities for 2026: Positive Actions for Learning (PALs).

Positive Actions for Learning are the behaviours we explicitly teach and expect students to demonstrate every day. These actions reflect our core values of Belonging, Caring, Learning, Persisting and Respecting. When students consistently demonstrate these behaviours, they help create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

To support this initiative, we have developed a clear behaviour expectations matrix outlining the positive actions we will teach and revisit throughout the year. Through engaging “show, tell and practice” activities, students are learning what these behaviours look like in both the classroom and the yard. We recognise that building positive habits takes time, so our staff are committed to ongoing teaching, modelling and reinforcement.

We have also introduced an exciting whole-school reward system to celebrate students who demonstrate our PALs values. Blue tokens are now a familiar sight across the school, with students proudly placing them into the Front Office “spaceship.” When we fill a cylinder together, the entire school earns a special reward — encouraging teamwork and strengthening our positive school culture.
